Product Owner – Digital Payments
Our company is looking for a professional passionate about payments to drive new product launches for our digital channels, with an aim of increasing customer engagement. You will be
responsible for owning initiatives that relate to improving the experience of new and existing payment products. You will ensure that our channels deliver a consistent and low friction
purchase and payment experiences across all businesses, while maintaining low fraud rates and removing bottlenecks to drive business growth. This role will collaborate with internal and external customers to identify points of friction, define requirements, and build business cases to advocate and deliver new product launches. The candidate will also lead efforts to drive
migration towards payment products that provide better value to our customers and higher approval rates, while lowering costs. You will ground your approach on analytics, collaborating
with our Business Managers, Technical Team and Data Scientists to drive the best experience for our members.
This role reports to the VP of Software Architecture. Expect to dive deep into customer metrics, competitive benchmarking and other relevant data to inform your product strategy. You will engage with both external vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver on feature and product development. You will have high judgement and understand which opportunities drive strategic value for the business. This position involves regular communication with senior leadership on product design and feasibility, improvement areas, project execution and operational risks.Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.The ideal candidate will also have superior analytical abilities, a track record of finding practical,simple and creative solutions to complicated problems without sacrificing quality or core functionality, and stellar business writing skills in English. You should be comfortable working both at a strategic level and diving deep into the details to ensure solution feasibility and quality execution. You will ensure that Pricesmart’s products meet and exceed the highest standards in experience, cost, engagement, security and technical precision.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the product lifecycle of the payment platform for Pricesmart’s digital channels
- Develop business cases for new and innovative payments products and features for Pricesmart’s digital channels
- Work with third party providers and internal stakeholders to launch new and innovative payment products
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Production Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of proven relevant work experience in the payments industry, e-commerce and service:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as part of teams developing technology solutions, preferably in Project Lead or Project Management roles
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a product owner of technology solutions
- Proficiency in English: Advanced level (C1 or above)
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Successful track record of developing and launching products for internal users as well as for end customers
- Ability to lead, drive consensus and deliver in a matrix organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Track record in working with internal and external stakeholders to build and launch new products
- Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities
- Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes
- Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
Preferred qualifications
- Track record of delivering new payment product and feature development
- Experience with contract negotiation and external vendor selection and management
